Google & Facebook Prepared to stop Fake News by Restricting ads!

Today, every news that we need is accessible on the web however not everything that we read is 100% right. This is truly a major issue as any fake news can bring about a big hype and individuals never think before sharing such news all over the online networking. All things considered, Google and Facebook has at last found a way to stop this! Talking about Google, the organization has of late changed the terms of Adsense( Company’s Ad Network).

As a matter of first importance, let us know why the company needed to take this step. As all of you know, the presidential elections in the US are over and Donald Trump won however when the users searched for the victor, numerous sources indicated wrong information. This brought about Google taking such a step. According to the new publisher policies of the company’s ad network,

It will restrict ad serving on websites that “misrepresent, misstate or conceal information about the publisher, the publisher’s content, or the primary purpose” of the site.

Indeed, without a doubt, the fake news sites won’t be able to show any Adsense ads. Now, Facebook has joined Google as well, as the companys has said that –

While implied, we have updated the policy to explicitly clarify that this applies to fake news. We vigorously enforce our policies and take swift action against sites and apps that are found to be in violation. Our team will continue to closely vet all prospective publishers and monitor existing ones to ensure compliance.

Mark Zuckerberg has said that 99% of the content that we see on Facebook is authentic ( which we know isn’t!). In any case, this move won’t stop the fake news however it unquestionably will affect the fake news site owners financially. In conclusion, we support this step by both the companies.
